What magnets are used for fridge magnets? - Any magnets can be used as fridge magnets, however, some work better than others. Plastic & rubber coated magnets or magnets with a smooth nickel finish will help prevent scratches. Magnetic push pins & thumbtacks and cylinder magnets are great for easy removal. Having magnets strong enough to not slide down are also ideal. Disc magnets are also a simple solution for attaching to other objects and hanging them on a fridge.
