K&J Plate Thickness Calculator calculates the Pull Force of a single magnet stuck to a steel plate of a user-supplied thickness.

The original K&J Magnet Calculator provides Pull Force Case 1, the pull force of a single magnet to a steel plate.  It assumes that the steel plate is both bigger than the magnet, and thick enough to not become saturated.

This K&J Plate Thickness Calculator considers the effects of thin plates.  Enter the magnet dimensions and the thickness of the steel plate the magnet is touching.  This calculator estimates the expected pull force and the minimum plate thickness required to realize the full strength of the magnet.

This page calculates expected pull forces based on extensive computer simulation and product testing. We don't know of an easy formula we can share to calculate these results.

All dimensions and distances must be in decimal format. Fractional inches will not calculate correctly. This calculator only considers discs, cylinders and rings that are magnetized along the clyindrical axis. While K&J Magnetics offers diametrically magnetized discs, this calculator does not apply to them.
