FR6 Specifications

  • Size: Size is the physical dimensions of the product using the standard unit of measure inches.
    1 x 6 Inch ( Diameter x Thickness )
  • Metric Size: Metric size is the physical dimensions of the product in metric millimeters.
    25.4 x 152.4 mm ( Diameter x Thickness )
  • Grade:
    N42M
  • Max Operating Temp: Maximum operating temperature, also known as maximum service temperature, is the temperature at which the magnet may be exposed to continuously with no significant long-range instability or structural changes. Learn more in our Temperature and Neodymium Magnets article.
    212°F (100°C)
  • Material: This lists the name of the material each product is composed of.
    Neodymium (NdFeb)
  • BH Max: BH max is the Maximum Energy Product at the point on the B/H Curve that has the most strength, expressed in MGOe (MegaGaussOersteds). When describing the grade of a neodymium magnet, this number is commonly referred to as the "N" number, as in Grade N52 magnets. Learn more about Bh max in our glossary.
    42 MGOe
  • Coating: Most neodymium magnets are plated or coated in order to protect the magnet material from corrosion. Check out our Custom Magnets for unplated magnets and other coatings not stocked for this size magnet. Learn more about all available platings and coating in our What Magnet Coating Should I Use? article.
    Food Grade 304 Stainless Steel
  • Weight: This is the weight of a single magnet in ounces and grams. Variety packs (with mixed sizes) show the overall weight.
    22.04 oz (624.82 g)
  • Br Max: Br max is also called "Residual Flux Density" and is when the magnetic induction remaining in a saturated magnetic material after the magnetizing field has been removed. This is the point at which the hysteresis loop crosses the B axis at zero magnetizing force, and represents the maximum flux output from the given magnet material. By definition, this point occurs at zero air gap, and therefore cannot be seen in practical use of magnet materials. Learn more about Br max in our glossary.
    13,200 Gauss
  • Hole Size: This is the size hardware that best fits the magnet hole size.
    1/4-20 UNC .315
  • Color: The color of the coating or plating on the product.
    Silver

Product Description

The fr6 stainless steel magnetic filter rod magnet has a 1" diameter and 6" length/thickness and a 1/4"-20 thread at each end for quick assembly. These neodymium filter rods consist of powerful neodymium magnets and steel pole pieces encased in a stainless steel cover giving a very strong field around the circumference of the 6" long magnet. Made from N42M high temperature resistance grade material, this magnet has a high size to strength ratio and can handle temperatures up to 212°F (100°C).

The FR6 tube-shaped filter magnet is designed for magnetic separation in grates, housings, and other filtration assemblies. It is covered in a food safe grade of 304 stainless steel and its strong magnetic field attracts and captures ferrous metal particles and contaminants as materials pass around the tube, making it useful for removing unwanted iron and steel from powders, granules, liquids, and other process materials. Filter magnets are commonly used in manufacturing, food processing, plastics, recycling, and other industrial material-handling applications.

Common Applications

  • Powders & Granular Materials - Removing ferrous metal contamination from powders and granular materials.
  • Material Processing - Capturing iron and steel particles in material processing systems.
  • Food Processing - Filtering dry ingredients and bulk food-processing materials.
  • Plastics & Resins - Removing metal contamination from plastics and plastic resins.
  • Pellets & Bulk Materials - Filtering pellets, flakes, and other bulk raw materials.
  • Equipment Protection - Protecting processing equipment from unwanted ferrous debris.
  • Hoppers, Chutes & Bins - Installing magnetic separation in hoppers, chutes, and bins.
  • Grates & Separators - Building magnetic grates, grids, and separator assemblies.
  • Recycling & Material Recovery - Removing metal particles from recycling and material recovery streams.
  • Chemical & Industrial Processing - Filtering materials used in chemical and industrial processing.
  • Contamination Removal - Improving product purity during manufacturing and packaging.
  • Custom Separation Systems - Building custom magnetic filtration and separation systems.

Product Features

  • Captures Ferrous Contaminants - Designed to attract iron, steel fragments, filings, and other magnetic particles from powders, granules, and similar materials.
  • Long Cylindrical Design - Internal magnet array and stainless steel provide a strong field with less inconsistency in field strength.
  • Stainless Steel Housing - Encloses and protects the internal magnets while providing a durable exterior surface.
  • Easy to Clean - Smooth exterior surfaces allow collected ferrous material to be removed during routine cleaning and maintenance.
  • Simple System Integration - Rod-shaped construction allows installation in chutes, hoppers, ducts, bins, and custom magnetic separation equipment.
  • Permanent Magnet - Remains magnetized without requiring electricity, batteries, or an external power source.
  • Rare Earth Neodymium Magnet - The strongest type of permanent magnet available, providing exceptional strength for its size.
