Neodymium bar magnets are strong rare earth block magnets with a long, narrow rectangular shape. A magnet may be called a bar magnet simply because of its elongated shape, regardless of its magnetization direction. A traditional north-south bar magnet has its north and south poles at opposite ends and is magnetized through its length. Our neodymium magnetic bars are available with different magnetization directions, including through the thickness or through the length. We offer nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni), black nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni-BlackNi), gold (Ni-Cu-Ni + Au), rubber and plastic coatings for our bar magnets. Our standard coating is a 3-layer nickel-copper-nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni) coating that helps protect against moisture and corrosion, enhances durability and provides a smooth silver finish. Traditional bar magnets are magnetized through their length, with the north pole at one end and the south pole at the other.
