Adhesive Non Slip Pad General Information

Below are some common questions about adhesive non-slip pads and using them with neodymium magnets.

What are non-slip pads for magnets?

Non-slip pads are adhesive-backed rubber pads that can be attached to a magnet to provide additional traction. The rubber surface increases friction between the magnet and the mounting surface, helping prevent the magnet from sliding under load.

Do non-slip pads make magnets hold more weight?

Non-slip pads can help a magnet resist sliding when the load is pulling sideways or downward along a surface. The added friction can significantly improve performance in shear applications, such as hanging an object from a magnet attached to a vertical steel surface.

Do non-slip pads increase a magnet's pull force?

No. A non-slip pad creates a small gap between the magnet and the steel surface, which reduces the magnet's direct pull force. Its advantage is increased friction, which can greatly improve resistance to sliding when the magnet is used on a vertical or angled surface.

How do I attach a non-slip pad to a magnet?

Make sure the magnet surface is clean, dry and free of dust, oil and other contaminants. Peel away the adhesive backing, carefully position the non-slip pad on the magnet and press it firmly into place to create a good adhesive bond.

Do non-slip pads help protect surfaces?

The rubber pad provides a layer of cushioning between the magnet and the mounting surface. This can help reduce direct metal-to-metal contact and provides additional impact resistance when placing or removing the magnet.
