Holding strength can vary depending on the construction of the board and the thickness of its magnetic steel surface. Do magnetic thumbtacks work on magnetic glass boards?

Magnetic thumbtacks can work on magnetic glass dry erase boards, but the glass creates a gap between the magnet and the magnetic material behind it. Because magnetic strength decreases with distance, magnetic glass boards generally require stronger magnets than ordinary steel whiteboards.

What surfaces will magnetic push pins stick to?

Magnetic push pins attract to suitable ferromagnetic surfaces such as iron and many types of steel. Common examples include steel refrigerators, filing cabinets, lockers and magnetic whiteboards.
