AX2C45-N Specifications

  • Magnetization Direction: The direction through which the magnet is magnetized. See our Magnetization Directions page for more details.
Magnetization direction icon Magnetized Through North Outer Face
  • Grade:
    N52
  • Max Operating Temp: Maximum operating temperature, also known as maximum service temperature, is the temperature at which the magnet may be exposed to continuously with no significant long-range instability or structural changes. Learn more in our Temperature and Neodymium Magnets article.
    176°F (80°C)
  • Material: This lists the name of the material each product is composed of.
    Neodymium (NdFeb)
  • BH Max: BH max is the Maximum Energy Product at the point on the B/H Curve that has the most strength, expressed in MGOe (MegaGaussOersteds). When describing the grade of a neodymium magnet, this number is commonly referred to as the "N" number, as in Grade N52 magnets. Learn more about Bh max in our glossary.
    52 MGOe
  • Tolerances: Dimensional tolerance specifies the allowed leeway for variations in manufacturing.
    ±0.004 in (.1mm)
  • Coating: Most neodymium magnets are plated or coated in order to protect the magnet material from corrosion. Check out our Custom Magnets for unplated magnets and other coatings not stocked for this size magnet. Learn more about all available platings and coating in our What Magnet Coating Should I Use? article.
    Nickel-Copper-Nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni)
  • Weight: This is the weight of a single magnet in ounces and grams. Variety packs (with mixed sizes) show the overall weight.
    0.349 oz (9.89 g)
  • Br Max: Br max is also called "Residual Flux Density" and is when the magnetic induction remaining in a saturated magnetic material after the magnetizing field has been removed. This is the point at which the hysteresis loop crosses the B axis at zero magnetizing force, and represents the maximum flux output from the given magnet material. By definition, this point occurs at zero air gap, and therefore cannot be seen in practical use of magnet materials. Learn more about Br max in our glossary.

Product Description

The ax2c45-n neodymium arc segment magnet has a 1 1/8" outer radius, 1" inner radius, 3/4" thickness, and 45° angle. It is magnetized with the north pole on the outer curved face and is coated with nickel-copper-nickel plating, providing a smooth, durable surface that helps protect the magnet from corrosion. Made from N52, the strongest commercially available grade of neodymium magnet material, it provides exceptional magnetic strength for its size and can handle maximum operating temperatures up to 176°F (80°C).

The ax2c45-n is a powerful N52 neodymium arc segment magnet designed to fit around circular and cylindrical components. Its 45° curved geometry and north pole on the outer face make it especially useful for motors, generators, rotors, stators, magnetic couplings, and other rotating magnetic assemblies. Eight matching arc segments can be arranged to create a complete segmented magnetic ring with alternating poles when four ax2c45-n and four ax2c45-s magnets are used. The curved shape and high magnetic strength make it a versatile choice for engineers, designers, manufacturers, makers, and educators building electric motors, generators, robotics, automation systems, scientific instruments, prototypes, and custom electromechanical equipment. The arc geometry allows multiple magnets to be positioned efficiently around a circumference, providing a practical solution for applications where conventional block, disc, or ring magnets are not suitable.

Common Applications

  • Rotary Position Sensing - Creating rotary position and angle sensing systems.
  • Magnetic Encoders - Building magnetic encoders and rotational sensors.
  • Shaft Position Detection - Detecting shaft position, movement, and rotation.
  • Motors & Rotating Assemblies - Building motors and other rotating magnetic assemblies.
  • Magnetic Couplings - Creating magnetic couplings and drive mechanisms.
  • Hall Effect Sensors - Integrating magnets with Hall effect sensors.
  • Robotics & Automation - Building robotics and automation systems.
  • Speed & Rotation Detection - Creating speed and rotational motion detection systems.
  • Controls & Position Indicators - Developing joysticks, knobs, controls, and position indicators.
  • Scientific Instruments - Building scientific instruments and measurement devices.
  • Prototypes & Custom Assemblies - Creating prototypes and custom electromechanical assemblies.
  • STEM & Magnetic Demonstrations - Building specialized magnetic field demonstrations and STEM projects.

Product Features

  • Curved Arc Shape - Segment-shaped geometry follows the circumference of round and cylindrical components; fitting naturally around rotors, stators, shafts, and other curved mechanical structures.
  • Compact Size - Provides strong magnetic performance in small, space-limited designs.
  • Multiple Segments Form a Ring - Individual arc magnets can be arranged around a circumference to create segmented magnetic rings and arrays.
  • Radial Placement - Curved inner and outer surfaces help position magnets at a controlled distance from the center of a rotating assembly.
  • Permanent Magnet - Remains magnetized without requiring electricity, batteries, or an external power source.
  • Rare Earth Neodymium Magnet - The strongest type of permanent magnet available, providing exceptional strength for its size.
