  • Grade:
    N42
  • Max Operating Temp: Maximum operating temperature, also known as maximum service temperature, is the temperature at which the magnet may be exposed to continuously with no significant long-range instability or structural changes. Learn more in our Temperature and Neodymium Magnets article.
    176°F (80°C)
  • Material: This lists the name of the material each product is composed of.
    Neodymium (NdFeb)
  • BH Max: BH max is the Maximum Energy Product at the point on the B/H Curve that has the most strength, expressed in MGOe (MegaGaussOersteds). When describing the grade of a neodymium magnet, this number is commonly referred to as the "N" number, as in Grade N52 magnets. Learn more about Bh max in our glossary.
    42 MGOe
  • Tolerances: Dimensional tolerance specifies the allowed leeway for variations in manufacturing.
    ±0.01 in (.25mm)
  • Coating: Most neodymium magnets are plated or coated in order to protect the magnet material from corrosion. Check out our Custom Magnets for unplated magnets and other coatings not stocked for this size magnet. Learn more about all available platings and coating in our What Magnet Coating Should I Use? article.
    Silicone Rubber

    0.4 oz (11.34 g)
  • Br Max: Br max is also called "Residual Flux Density" and is when the magnetic induction remaining in a saturated magnetic material after the magnetizing field has been removed. This is the point at which the hysteresis loop crosses the B axis at zero magnetizing force, and represents the maximum flux output from the given magnet material. By definition, this point occurs at zero air gap, and therefore cannot be seen in practical use of magnet materials. Learn more about Br max in our glossary.
    13,200 Gauss
  • Hole Size: This is the size hardware that best fits the magnet hole size.
    #4 screw
  • Color: The color of the coating or plating on the product.
    Black

Product Description

The rmb-b-x0 rubber coated block mounting magnet has a 1" length, 3/4" width and 1/4" thickness and has a center counterbore-style hole for #4 sized bolts. The construction has a block magnet on each side attached to a steel plate with opposite poles facing away from steel to create a strong attachment to steel. The magnets inside are coated with a nickel copper nickel plating providing a smooth and durable surface that helps protect the magnet from corrosion and the outside is covered in a moisture resistant, high grip rubber coating. To make fully waterproof, the hole can be caulked after attachment. Made from N42 grade material, this magnet has a high size to strength ratio and can handle max operating temperatures up to 176°F (80°C).

The rmb-b-x0 is a powerful rubber coated block mounting magnet designed for strong, secure attachment to steel and other ferrous metal surfaces. Its counterbored mounting hole and high friction rubber grip make it a versatile choice for woodworkers, fabricators, makers, engineers, installers, and manufacturers building magnetic closures, removable signs and panels, fixtures, jigs, equipment mounts, displays, and other mounting systems. It is also well suited for access panels, boxes, enclosures, workshop equipment, prototypes, and DIY projects where a strong removable magnetic connection is needed.

Common Applications

  • Signs & Displays - Mounting signs, displays, and identification panels to steel surfaces.
  • Fixtures & Hardware - Attaching fixtures, brackets, and hardware to ferrous metal.
  • Lights & Electronics - Mounting lights, sensors, cameras, and small electronic devices.
  • Tools & Accessories - Installing tools, holders, and workshop accessories.
  • Panels & Guards - Creating removable equipment panels, guards, and covers.
  • Jigs & Positioning - Building jigs, fixtures, stops, and positioning systems.
  • Shelving & Machinery - Mounting components to steel shelving, racks, frames, and machinery.
  • Adjustable Mounting - Creating adjustable or repositionable magnetic assemblies.
  • Retail & Trade Show Displays - Installing retail, trade show, and point-of-purchase displays.
  • Vehicles & Equipment - Securing accessories in vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Temporary Mounting - Creating temporary mounting points without drilling into steel surfaces.
  • Industrial & DIY Mounting - Building industrial, fabrication, and DIY mounting systems.

Product Features

  • Rectangular Geometry - Fits naturally into rectangular pockets, slots, channels, and fabricated assemblies.
  • Straight Edges - Makes alignment with edges, corners, and other rectangular components straightforward.
  • Protective Rubber Coating - Helps prevent scratches and damage to delicate mounting surfaces while also helping protect the magnet from impact.
  • Increased Friction - The rubber surface provides additional grip to help resist sliding on smooth ferrous surfaces.
  • Strong Magnetic Attachment - Neodymium magnets provide substantial holding force for removable mounting to steel and other ferromagnetic surfaces.
  • Protected Magnet Design - The rubber covering helps protect the magnets from impact, chipping, and physical damage.
  • Removable Mounting - Provides secure magnetic attachment without drilling holes or permanently modifying the steel mounting surface.
  • Easy to Reposition - Can be removed and relocated as mounting requirements change.
  • Counterbore Mounting Point - Allows compatible hardware, fixtures, brackets, and accessories to be mechanically attached to the magnet.
  • Low-Profile Design - Provides a compact mounting solution for attaching components close to a ferrous surface.
  • Permanent Magnet - Remains magnetized without requiring electricity, batteries, or an external power source.
  • Rare Earth Neodymium Magnet - The strongest type of permanent magnet available, providing exceptional strength for its size.
