Max Operating Temp: Maximum operating temperature, also known as maximum service temperature, is the temperature at which the magnet may be exposed to continuously with no significant long-range instability or structural changes. Learn more in our Temperature and Neodymium Magnets article.176°F (80°C)
-
Material: This lists the name of the material each product is composed of.Neodymium (NdFeb)
-
BH Max: BH max is the Maximum Energy Product at the point on the B/H Curve that has the most strength, expressed in MGOe (MegaGaussOersteds). When describing the grade of a neodymium magnet, this number is commonly referred to as the "N" number, as in Grade N52 magnets. Learn more about Bh max in our glossary.38 MGOe
-
Tolerances: Dimensional tolerance specifies the allowed leeway for variations in manufacturing.±0.004 in (.1mm)
-
Coating: Most neodymium magnets are plated or coated in order to protect the magnet material from corrosion. Check out our Custom Magnets for unplated magnets and other coatings not stocked for this size magnet. Learn more about all available platings and coating in our What Magnet Coating Should I Use? article.Nickel-Copper-Nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni)
-
Weight: This is the weight of a single magnet in ounces and grams.0.5516 oz (15.64 g)
-
Br Max: Br max is also called "Residual Flux Density" and is when the magnetic induction remaining in a saturated magnetic material after the magnetizing field has been removed. This is the point at which the hysteresis loop crosses the B axis at zero magnetizing force, and represents the maximum flux output from the given magnet material. By definition, this point occurs at zero air gap, and therefore cannot be seen in practical use of magnet materials. Learn more about Br max in our glossary.12,600 Gauss
-
Pack Size: The number of products included in quantity 1 when added to cart. A pair means 2 products and a pack is a group of multiple products. Some products have multiple pairs in a single pack. Please be careful when placing into cart.1 Pair
-
Color: The color of the coating or plating on the product.Silver
These great Sewing Magnets are designed especially for sewing into
fabrics. Great for purses, clasps, and many other magnetic attachments for
clothing and other textiles. These magnets also work great as magnetic
clasps in binders, folders and other printed materials.
Sewing magnets are sold in matched pairs. An order
quantity of 1 gets you two magnets.
For items that aren't frequently
washed, such as purses, wool or leather items, the strength of these magnets is
slightly better without a plastic cover. For items that are frequently
washed, our SWP-L is the same
magnet with a protective cover. Machine wash cold, dry on low heat.
Choose
your size based on the thickness of all material layers between the magnets in
your application. Aim for a pull force between 1 and 3 pounds for a nice
feel, though the desired strength does depend on the application. This
magnet is great for total material thicknesses of 1/16" to 1/4".
The
table below shows the expected strength when used with a variety of
materials. The Pull Force assumes the magnets are separated by two layers
of the fabric.
| Material | Fabric thickness, single layer [in] | Pull Force [lb] | Comments |
| Cotton T-shirt | 0.012 | 7.09 | Too strong! |
| Denim/jeans | 0.028 | 4.08 | Very strong pull |
| Canvas | 0.04 | 2.95 | Firm pull |
| Leather, 1/16" thick | 0.0625 | 1.79 | Good pull |
| Leather, 1/8" thick | 0.125 | 0.61 | Light pull |
