MMR-A-X8 Specifications

  • Dimensions: This shows the name of each dimension and how it is measured in the image.
  • Magnetization Direction: The direction through which the magnet is magnetized. See our Magnetization Directions page for more details.
Magnetization direction icon North (outer face)
  • Size: Size is the physical dimensions of the product using the standard unit of measure inches.
    1.5 x 0.562 x 0.188 Inch ( Length x Width x Thickness )
  • Metric Size: Metric size is the physical dimensions of the product in metric millimeters.
    38.1 x 14.29 x 4.76 mm ( Length x Width x Thickness )
  • Pull Force 1: Pull force case 1 represents a magnet attracting to a thick steel plate. Learn more about Magnet Pull Force Case 1.
    26.75 lb (12.13 kg)
  • Grade:
    N42
  • Max Operating Temp: Maximum operating temperature, also known as maximum service temperature, is the temperature at which the magnet may be exposed to continuously with no significant long-range instability or structural changes. Learn more in our Temperature and Neodymium Magnets article.
    176°F (80°C)
  • Material: This lists the name of the material each product is composed of.
    Neodymium (NdFeb)
  • BH Max: BH max is the Maximum Energy Product at the point on the B/H Curve that has the most strength, expressed in MGOe (MegaGaussOersteds). When describing the grade of a neodymium magnet, this number is commonly referred to as the "N" number, as in Grade N52 magnets. Learn more about Bh max in our glossary.
    42 MGOe
  • Tolerances: Dimensional tolerance specifies the allowed leeway for variations in manufacturing.
    ±0.01 in (.25mm)
  • Coating: Most neodymium magnets are plated or coated in order to protect the magnet material from corrosion. Check out our Custom Magnets for unplated magnets and other coatings not stocked for this size magnet. Learn more about all available platings and coating in our What Magnet Coating Should I Use? article.
    Nickel-Copper-Nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni)
  • Weight: This is the weight of a single magnet in ounces and grams. Variety packs (with mixed sizes) show the overall weight.
    0.6319 oz (17.92 g)
  • Br Max: Br max is also called "Residual Flux Density" and is when the magnetic induction remaining in a saturated magnetic material after the magnetizing field has been removed. This is the point at which the hysteresis loop crosses the B axis at zero magnetizing force, and represents the maximum flux output from the given magnet material. By definition, this point occurs at zero air gap, and therefore cannot be seen in practical use of magnet materials. Learn more about Br max in our glossary.
    13,200 Gauss
  • Hole Size: This is the size hardware that best fits the magnet hole size.
    #4 screw
  • Hole Angle: This is the hole angle of the countersunk hole.
    82°
  • Color: The color of the coating or plating on the product.
    Silver

Product Description

The mmr-a-x8 u-shaped channel mounting magnet has a 1 1/2" length, 9/16" width and 3/16" thickness and has two countersunk holes on each side of the length of the bar that accept #4 screws. The bar is magnetized through thickness with the north pole facing away from the steel cup and is coated with a nickel copper nickel plating providing a smooth and durable surface that helps protect the magnet from corrosion. Made from N42 grade material, this magnet has a high size to strength ratio and can handle max operating temperatures up to 176°F (80°C).

The MMR-A-X8 is a powerful U-shaped channel mounting magnet designed for strong, secure attachment to steel and other ferrous metal surfaces. Its countersunk mounting holes make it a versatile choice for woodworkers, fabricators, makers, engineers, installers, and manufacturers building magnetic closures, removable signs and panels, fixtures, jigs, equipment mounts, displays, and other mounting systems. It is also well suited for access panels, boxes, enclosures, workshop equipment, prototypes, and DIY projects where a strong removable magnetic connection is needed.

Common Applications

  • Cabinet, Door & Gate Closures - Creating magnetic cabinet, door, gate, and drawer closures.
  • Signs & Displays - Mounting removable signs, displays, and identification panels.
  • Fixtures & Brackets - Attaching fixtures, brackets, and accessories to steel surfaces.
  • Woodworking & Cabinetry - Building woodworking projects, furniture, and custom cabinetry.
  • Access Panels & Covers - Securing removable access panels, covers, and enclosures.
  • Tools & Equipment - Mounting tools, equipment, and workshop accessories.
  • Jigs & Fixtures - Building jigs, fixtures, guides, and positioning systems.
  • Machine Components - Creating removable guards, panels, and machine components.
  • Retail & Trade Show Displays - Building retail, trade show, and point-of-purchase displays.
  • Shelving & Racks - Mounting components to steel shelving, racks, and frames.
  • Vehicles & Trailers - Securing accessories in vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • DIY & Fabrication - Creating DIY, fabrication, and home improvement projects.

Product Features

  • Rectangular Geometry - Fits naturally into rectangular pockets, slots, channels, and fabricated assemblies.
  • Straight Edges - Makes alignment with edges, corners, and other rectangular components straightforward.
  • Steel Channel Construction - Set inside a steel channel for a durable, impact-resistant assembly.
  • Concentrated Holding Force - The steel channel provides strong attachment to ferrous surfaces.
  • Screw-Mounting Holes - Integrated mounting holes allow the assembly to be securely fastened to wood, plastic, metal, and other materials.
  • Low-Profile Shape - The long, narrow design fits well along edges, rails, frames, and other confined mounting locations.
  • Easy to Remove and Reuse - A screw-mounted channel magnet can be repositioned or replaced without permanently bonding it to the mounting surface.
  • Permanent Magnet - Remains magnetized without requiring electricity, batteries, or an external power source.
  • Rare Earth Neodymium Magnet - The strongest type of permanent magnet available, providing exceptional strength for its size.
